From their inception, animated films have promised us a world which before we could only dream of. The filmmakers on this year’s animated program channel the hope for a new world be it seen through eyes of a little afghan girl, a trash collecting insect, or a punk down on his luck.

In a small apartment in Buenos Aires, an old woman eagerly awaits the birth of her grandchild and all the joys of becoming a grandmother. However, horrific circumstances mean that she will be forced to wait for over 30 years. Using real-life testimonials this animated-documentary raises issues of memory, repression and loss.

FLY BY NIGHT is a unique show that uses classic film noirs as lot templates. From 'The Big Sleep' to 'Touch of Evil, 'FLY BY NIGHT' loosely borrows basic story lines, sets them in a suburban backyard, throws in a vast array of insect characters, and adds lots of laughs thanks to the humorously twisted world of our slick, crime-solving P.I., Ephram Bigley. By day our hero appears to be an average, blue collar, trash-collecting insect. But at night when the underbelly of 'the yard' springs to life, Ephram morphs into the super cool fly, 'Eyes' Bigley... the kind of fly that Raymond Chandler would tip his hat to: the slickest, coolest private eye in the backyard.

- A Film Festival based in Miami, Florida that features short films (30-minutes or less each)
- A growing movement to exhibit and expand the art form of short filmmaking
- A venue to engage the local community
Our mission is to present quality films from around the world. As well as support, recognize and honor our filmmakers for their visionary excellence in creating a films under 30 minutes.
Serving as South Florida’s only short film festival, MsFF was founded to showcase Miami as a leader in contemporary filmmaking, and aims to exhibit the most captivating and innovative short content. In the process, MsFF hopes to build an audience for short film as well as induldge it’s current dedicated followers. For two weeks every fall thousands will flock to Miami for the screening of over 80 films from around the world, that have been organized “thematically” to give each shorts block an identity, and each audience member a reason to return night after night.
The Miami Short Film Festival is a dedicated contributor to the cultural arts, economy, and education of Miami-Dade County. Through a highly effective strategic partnership model, MsFF has introduced its unique programs and programming year-round into theaters, classrooms, businesses, and organizations throughout Miami-Dade County.
